Real Estate is the Best Way to Build Wealth!
Hi! My name is Amelia Misenheimer and I was raised around business and investing. I believe that more people should be having open conversations about finances, how to build generational wealth, and investing.
I bought my first rental in 2010 with a down payment from a stock I bought years prior. In college, I had a project to do an analysis on a publically traded company and since all the obvious ones were already taken I chose a "pretty" one - Tiffany & Co. Through this project I realized how undervalued they were, and bought in when the prices were low.
After college, I worked in the oil & gas industry for 2 & 1/2 years having the opportunity to live and travel all around the world. I was able to explore Colorado, Houston, the Gulf Coast of Mexico, and the Netherlands before finally settling in Shreveport, LA. Being raised in an entrepreneurial family I realized that I didn't love the restrictions of working for a Fortune 500 company, so I made a change.
I moved back to my hometown of Portales, New Mexico to start a property management firm. That move instigated me to purchase my first property (and sell my Tiffany stock).
Over the next 10 years, I grew the property management company from 35 properties to over 450 and worked with 100 different property owners. I also bought a Real Estate Brokerage and managed several realtors.
Working with so many investors at the many different stages of investing taught me that I love the game. The strategy of investing, the negotiation, and the opportunities are what really attracted me. Through this time, I continued to grow my personal investment portfolio.
